Are you looking for a rare, highly collectible two-door, two-seater luxury roadster with an expensive-to-produce body, designed and built by Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina and flown to Detroit via 747 for the final assembly? Then look no further than this 1993 Cadillac Allante – GM's answer to the Mercedes R129 SL roadster. Not only does this 1993 model feature a striking color combination – it also comes from a loving owner who spared no expense to keep it pristine!
Originally sold to California, this Allante resided in Missouri for quite some time before it made its way to Southwest Michigan in 2014, where it stays with the recent owner since. He acquired the Caddy with 56,000 original miles and added another 15,200 in 8 years of ownership, making it a total of low 71,200 mls on the odometer. Mainly used as a fun weekend cruiser, it had been pampered and well kept, resulting in a “not too far from show car” condition. The clean Michigan title is in the owner's name.
Pininfarina's clean design meets a very elegant “Pearl White” paint in great original shape, contrasted by a “Burgundy” convertible top which was replaced in 2016 (pull-down motors have been replaced as well in the process) The body is clean, straight and unmolested, factory chrome wheels in excellent condition with high-end Vogue tires round up this fantastically preserved appearance.
There's not much that can be said about the interior in “Burgundy” leather – other than it is in excellent, clean, well cared condition. Electric-everything works as expected, including the in-car diagnosis computer system (one of the first in the industry) The heater core has been replace in 2015, so was the shifter pad, the A/C converted from R12 to R134a. I just can't get much better than this.
Allante is front-wheel driven by a transverse mounted 4.6 Liter / 280.7 cu in. DOHC Northstar V8 with 295 hp, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The power train is running strong, showing no leaks of any kind, had been serviced and maintained regularly. Allante's active damper management system is costly to replace, but instead of installing simpler, cheaper alternative struts, the owner decided to stuck with the adaptive OEM system.
The Carfax history report shows a clean past – no structural damages, airbag deployment or recalls, an athentic odometer read and regular maintenance activity.
In 7 years, Cadillac assembled 21,430 Allante – just a little more than 3,000 cars per year. 1993 marks its last model year, and although you can still find them for sale relatively easy, the back story of this beautiful “Pearl White” Allante makes all the difference. With its owner, a very knowledgeable member of the Cadillac Allante Club who kept this vehicle in a (as he calls it) “not too far from show car” condition at all costs and just enjoyed cruising around on weekends, this pristine roadster couldn't be more attractive as a future collectible.
