1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport. True 138 VIN SS car. Front disc brake conversion. American Racing staggered wheels with 215/55R17 tires in the front and 235/55R17 tires in the rear. The car is powered by a period-correct 396 V8 with forged pistons, performance camshaft, and a 4-speed manual transmission. It also features a 12-bolt Posi rear end and all-new suspension. The engine runs strong and sounds great. An Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor are installed. A significant amount of work has been completed, and most components have been replaced or rebuilt. Recent maintenance includes new headlights, headlight bezels, brake master cylinder, and replacement of scratched glass. The red paint presents very well with consistent shine throughout. Chrome trim is bright, and the body shows no major dents or scratches. The rear quarter panels appear solid. Panel gaps are generally even, although some body panel alignment issues are present and shown in the photos. The polished 17-inch wheels are in good condition with no curb rash. Tires have approximately 10/32\' tread remaining. The interior is finished in black and remains clean and well-kept. Seats, door panels, carpet, and headliner are in good condition with only minor wear. The dashboard, SS-style gauge cluster, center console, auxiliary gauges, and floor-mounted shifter are all functional and present well. Mechanically, the car starts easily, idles smoothly, and drives well. Steering, braking, and transmission operation are all solid. Light surface rust is present on the exhaust manifolds, and minor corrosion is visible on the battery terminals. The engine has a small oil pan leak and the engine block could benefit from fresh paint. The factory antenna was removed, and the opening was professionally welded and smoothed. No body filler was used in the repair. This is a well-sorted, driver-quality Chevelle SS that is driven regularly and shows well both on the road and at local events.
