1928 Ford Model A Special Coupe
For consignment, a 1928 Ford Model A Special coupe showing 1,255 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car has been fully restored with touring in mind, so it has upgrades that include a 12 volt system, 4 blade fan, and electric wipers!
Exterior
ExteriorTwo stage Arabian Sand covers the body of the car contrasted by the black paint which coats the fenders, running board, wire wheels, horn, and radiator shell, all sandwiched by the black vinyl top and visor. Lovely metal work includes the ribbon like bumpers, the grille surround, side mirrors, cowl light housing, and door handles. The wire wheels are 21 inches and wear white wall tires, housed under the graceful, arching fenders. A spare wire wheel and tire are mounted on the back along with a wooden luggage rack, all behind a rumble seat. Imperfections include numerous scratches, chipped paint, scuffs, and touched up scratches throughout. There are some checks in the yellow pinstriping and cracking in some filler out back.
Interior
Light door panels are simply designed and have map pockets that are slightly stretched along with polished hardware while the bench seat is nicely covered in a rich tone of brown and this same material is used on the rumble seat out back. A 4 spoke steering wheel leads to a glossy black dash with yellow pinstriping and a center, clover leaf control panel in polished metal while a temperature gauge has been added under the dash. A wood handled shifter rises cleanly from the floor where tan carpet is fitted with embedded foot pad. The headliner and windlace above are in very good condition.
Drivetrain
An original looking and driven powerplant awaits behind the covers, a 201ci inline four cylinder rated at 40 horsepower and fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor. It\'s mated to a 3 speed manual transmission sending power to the rear axle with 3.70 gears. There\'s an alternator present and the car now runs on a 12 volt system. The four blade fan and radiator are newer according to our consignor.
Undercarriage
We\'ve got generally clean conditions with some patina complements of surface rust, but none of the bad stuff. There\'s a single exhaust running through a stock style muffler and exiting, as they did, right before the rear axle under the car. Mechanical drum brakes are supplied to all four wheels and transverse leaf springs are used front and rear.
Drive-Ability
Hundreds of Model A\'s have graced our halls so this is not our first rodeo and this one holds true to its roadworthy build by providing a spirited, trouble free ride feeling completely authentic with some reliability upgrades you might not even notice. No complaints here but we do have to note the fog lights are not working. All other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
