For consignment, a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu hardtop showing 67,082 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car made the one hour trek to Classic Auto Mall without a hiccup and has always been hand waxed and garage kept by our consignor.
Exterior
You can\'t go wrong with two stage black paint and there\'s not an A-body on the planet that doesn\'t look good dressed in black and this one is no exception. This one wears unique copper camo stripes over the hood and whimsical skeleton arms on each door that are decals that can be removed. The condition of the paint and metalwork in the car is generally good and 15-inch Rocket wheels carry staggered size tires for a muscular stance. The tail light configuration, while commonplace in 1971 with about 400,000 Chevelles produced, today stands as fantastically classic, borrowing a bit of the quad energy from the Corvette. Oval tailpipes add to the aggression and a black grille trimmed in chrome in the centerpiece of the front fascia. Imperfections include a few chips, panel edgewear throughout, door gap issue, rock spray, scratches, cracks, and wavy or bent rocker trim.
Interior
You\'re going to get a surprise if you were expecting black on black, because the Saddle interior makes its bright presence known on the clean door panels first. Entering the car, you\'ll find clean saddle vinyl bucket seats flanking a center console, in great shape with a blemish on the driver\'s headrest and aging on both rear shells, while the rear bench shows nicely. Up front, a handsome profile includes a brown steering wheel fronting a black over camel dashboard, featuring a horizontal sweep speedometer, Vintage A/C panel, and aftermarket AM/FM/ radio with Bluetooth, MP3 and USB. The custom center console holds an array of white faced Sunpro gauges and has a cupholder and pistol grip-like shifter, all in pleasing contrast to the otherwise original styling. Saddle loop carpet is below, and clean headliner above and the trunk wears a rubber mat over a few surface rust spots on the floor.
Drivetrain
Lots of room in the engine bay where you\'ll find a 350ci V8 with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and headers. It\'s backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power through the 12 bolt rear and 2.73 gears. The car has power brakes, A/C, and power steering.
Undercarriage
Generally clean with residual oil noted on the pan and rear differential along with some rust on the inner rocker panels and floor pans. Dual exhaust runs through FlowMaster mufflers on their way to a rear exit and coil springs are found at both ends with a 4 link in back. Power brakes are split with discs up front and drums in back.
Drive-Ability
The 350 comes to life with a quick start and bellows from out back a pleasant exhaust tone. It displays good power, straight tracking, and braking that\'s on point. With A/C and modern audio, trips of any length are going to be a pleasure for this easy rider. All functions operate as intended and it\'s back to the mall to claim a spot on the showroom floor.
