Rare Discovery - 1933 Jaguar SS1 Tourer: Original Unrestored ProjectAn exceptionally rare 1933 Jaguar SS1 Tourer, this remarkable original discovery has spent many years tucked away in storage, patiently awaiting restoration. Black with a red interior. An extraordinary opportunity to acquire a highly sought-after pre-war British automobile in authentic, unrestored condition. Finding an SS1 Tourer in project form is nearly impossible. An excellent opportunity for any collector and enthusiast to restore a true milestone in British automotive history. The SS1 was the direct forerunner of the Jaguar marque and perfectly embodied the qualities that would later define Jaguar: grace, space, and pace. The initials \"SS\" originally stood for Swallow Sidecar & Coachbuilding Company, founded in Blackpool, England, by William Walmsley in 1922. After entering automobile production in 1926, the company introduced the revolutionary SS1 Coup? in October 1931. Designed under the direction of William Lyons, the SS1 featured a dramatically low, underslung chassis supplied by the Standard Motor Company, along with a six-cylinder engine and four-speed gearbox. Its striking proportionsan exceptionally long bonnet, compact passenger compartment, and flowing helmet-style front wingscreated one of the most distinctive sporting designs of the era. The SS1 established the styling philosophy that would become synonymous with Jaguar: elegant, high-performance automobiles offering exceptional value. The model proved so successful that production of Swallow-bodied cars ended in 1933, when SS Cars Ltd. was formed. The SS1 remained in production until 1936 and is now recognized as one of the most significant pre-war British sporting cars. A rare chance to own one of the earliest and most influential sporting cars ever produced by the company that would become Jaguar. Opportunities to acquire an original, unrestored SS1 Tourer are exceptionally scarce, making this a truly special restoration candidate with tremendous historical significance.
