One look at this 1947 Dodge Pickup and your mind starts thinking about all the different things you can do. That's because while most classics are built to take you to fun places, this is the kind of machine that was made to haul all the fun along with it.
A classic Dodge truck from the immediate post-WWII years is already a rare sight. The distinct cross-hair grille is a design feature that you see on brand new Mopar pickups today. So it's nice to have this boldly/brightly leading the way. There are more cool vintage details like the whitewall-style tires, ram hood ornament, and wood stake bed. The full package is a patina-style classic, and so many people will just assume many details have endured for the last 75 years. So while there are Texaco logos on the doors, you might be tempted to take them off and put your own business logo on them. That will give it decades of legitimacy even if you just opened your doors yesterday!
Inside is a cab built for long-lasting function. The three-spoke wheel has that worn-in grippy feeling that instantly connects you with previous generations. The gearstick has a purposeful metallic feel. Plus, the brown on the door panels, floor, and bench seat breaks up the full black presentation for a pleasing vintage style.
The straight-six motor has the casting for a later 218 cubic-inch unit. But it has such a correct/classic presentation, that you'll happily open up the butterfly hood to show off the bright red block. The inline motor warms up to be a stout runner, and the three-speed manual transmission puts you in proper control.
This Dodge needs extra love for it to be a real driver, but you can tell there's plenty of appeal here. After all, it has a genuine classic style that's great for promoting your business or providing a base for a distinct project. So it's time to get your hands on a cool immediate post-war pickup.
