Bold, orange, and full of pony’s, Chevrolet’s introduction to the subcompact performance world started with the Camaro and was enhanced with performance packages. Super Sport is synonymous with power and handling, Rally Sport adds cosmetic style. Put the two together and you achieve motoring nirvana, and an ultra-classic Pony car.
Although our Owner purchased this beauty just last year, he’s a Camaro enthusiast to the core. Prior, she had a 20 year stay in an Oklahoma private collection. Her restoration is reported as completed in the late 80’s, bringing her to that crushing orange presentation and mechanical perfection. Today, she resides in Mesa, AZ and has a clean and clear title in her current Owner’s name.
A review of the body tag codes reveals her original color as Granada Gold. Now she’s covered in Hugger Orange, bringing a classic Chevy to Chevy’s classic color. She is showing a bit of longevity in her paint and a few flaws are noted, but she is a super presentation of a driver’s car. Rally Sport package incorporates those oh-so-60’s hidden headlights and they work perfectly. Badging and package extra’s all complete the exterior and seriously introduce this muscle car. Chrome is reported as good, but not perfect. Era proper, but not to ‘67’s, she sits on iconic Chevrolet rally styled wheels. She shows as a clean and pure Pony car.
Proper to the body tag, we have the deluxe black vinyl interior which includes the highly desired center console. Seats, door panels, carpet, steering wheel, and lap belts show as original and with a bit of wear. Gauges and displays, but for the infamous Chevy clock, all work proper. Window and glass all work proper and are reported as in very good condition. She’s original and stock, proper to time piece and a historically significant car.
An extensive review of casting numbers and identification stamping reviews running gear that appears to be proper to the era and very likely original to the car. Chevy was a bit lacks in their record keeping, leaving proof of originality to the discerning investigator. Motor is reported as a proper 295 horse, 350 cid V8, but with modifications including a slight cam, headers, aluminum intake and Holley carburation. All believed to have been rebuilt during her 80’s restoration. Body-tag proper Muncie M-21 four-speed manual transmission and 12 bolt posi-rear, geared to 3.31, complete the stock and believed to be original running gear.
A thorough review of this car was performed by Lemon Squad. Their analysis was performed on cosmetic and mechanical items. Clearly, her paint is showing a bit of age and her trunk lid has started to show challenges. Her mechanicals have been maintained during her years of service; however, our beauty just ran out of fuel while undergoing her review. Videos have been included to display her prowess. She runs and performs flawlessly.
Our Owner has made a tough decision to sell his dream car. She’s a true classic and the new goal is to resto-mod a common Camaro. A serious review of the options on this car along with the available documentation leaves our Owner to believe his orange beauty is a true and honest RS/SS car, too worth to modify. This is a car ready for driving fun but solid enough to justify a second, pure restoration and represents a wonderful era of automobiling.
