I'm getting Elsie, my '67 El Camino out of paint and hopefully all trimmed out with new grille, ss body molding, windshiels, yada, yada, prior to 15th, in time for show season and that '60 El Camino, at the top of this page caught my eye. That's the one that got away... if anyone knows of one for sale, I would sure like to know. [email protected]

Hi, Well, I have to disagree a bit. Hudson built pickups earlier than 1947...in fact, they built a pickup in in 1937 or 1938 based on the Terriplane car. In 1941, they built both a 1/2 ton, based on the 116" wheelbase, and a smaller volume of 3/4 tons based on the 128" big boy chassi. I know, as I have one of th 3/4 ton big boys. I'll submit a photo for you! thanks, Jim Walker

studebakers1 - If you are really interested, you really should do more reading on these pickups. Hudson only made one model pickup in 1946-1947, and it was a 3/4 ton, had independent front suspension, 212 cu in flathead six, and came standard with a 3-speed trans (overdrive was optional). The bed was 93" long, and a bit over 48" between the unique wheelwells, had a 128" wheelbase, and was a bit over 216" long overall. Hudson never made a 1/4 ton pickup (however, there was a 'utility coupe' with a small bed in the trunk), the smallest was a truck was rated at 1/2 ton, which was dropped after WWII.

WE HAVE TWO HUDSON PICKUP'S LIKE THIS HERE IN THE REDDING CALIFORNIA AREA AND PRICES START AT NO LESS THAN $47,000.00 AND ONE IS PRICED RIGHT NOW I'M TOLD AT $65,000.00. THE MAN WHO SAID IT WAS A 3/4 TON, I SEEN YOU HAD 46 HUDSONPU AS YOUR NAME, BUT IT IS ONLY A 4' x 6' BED MAKING IT ONLY A HALF TON. I HAVE OWNED THREE OF THEM ALONG WITH A WILLYS PICKUP AND IN THE 1960'S WHEN I OWNED A DEALERSHIP, THEY WERE 1/4 AND 1/2 TON PICKUPS. I'M NOW THE FOUNDER OF THE MT. SHASTA ORPHAN CLASSICS AND WISH WE HAD MORE HUDSONS AROUND. THEY WERE A GREAT VEHICLE. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW FRIENDS WITH FINE ORPHANS TO COME ENJOY OUR GROUP. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

I just found one of these - don't know a 46 from a 47. I want to buy it to kep the yahoo form doing any more butchering. I think the frame is already too far gone from his steering and engine cutting. What is one of these worth with the cab, bed and fenders in very good shape?

This would make a great street rod. Its one of those rides that you never see at car shows.

Rare, but not too rare... Front hood emblem indicates that this is a 1946 Hudson Pickup, 3/4 ton. Between 1946-1947, Hudson made around 6000 of them. There are quite a few of them around - two of them in my garage/workshop! Seem to recall seeing this one sell on Ebay, about a year ago. - Rick
