This 1968 Porsche 911S Targa is a European only model that is further rarified with some outstanding and rarely seen options, all verified by its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It begins with the optional 100-liter fuel tank, which was a rare factory option designed for rallying across the European countryside. From there its on to the Webasto heater, a separate gasoline powered heater residing in the boot. We would be remiss if we left out the rarely seen Elephant Hide trim covering the doors and dash, exhibiting an extremely well preserved look and is very likely original to the car. As many people know, the 911S was never slated for import to the U.S. because it would not meet the more stringent emissions standards. However, this one did find its way to our shores, making it an incredibly rare sight here with only 442 total examples produced worldwide in 1968. A rare, more desirable Porsche 911S would be difficult to find. This car has it all: incredibly options, highly desirable colors, a beautiful restoration, making it perhaps the rarest most distinguished early 911S to be found anywhere. Do not miss this opportunity. Early Porsche 911s continue to grow exponentially in value, making this one of the most attractive investment opportunities available today. In fact, according to Knight Frank''s Wealth Report, classic cars were the top-performing collectible asset with prices surging 23-percent in the 12-months ending in the third quarter of 2012, and posting gains of 395-percent over 10-years.
