DESCRIPTION

Engine completely re-built. Great condition, fun to drive. Serious inquiries in the Atlanta area only.

It is a great running, really fun car. The problem is that my 17 year old son is having too much fun with it. He has been using it as a daily driver this school year and just got his first speeding ticket going 22 mph over the limit right before Christmas. He will also be heading off to college in the fall, and now is the time to start making some hard decisions, like selling the MG.
I bought the MGB in 2008 from a private seller in Roswell / Johns Creek area of Atlanta about five miles from me.
This was the listing I found:
1976 MGB Beauty - $4800 (Alpharetta)

Heres a bargain basement price on a beautiful car that you can drive with confidence.

This is a solid Georgia car purchased from its 2nd owner locally. It has been well cared for and I will pass along receipts back to 01 to demonstrate more that 6K worth of maintenance and repairs done to date. The mileage shown on the clock is low however I personally believe it is accurate as I am familiar with these cars and where and how they wear.

Rather than list a laundry list of features and condition notes, it would be better to give me a call and I will be happy to describe it. You should note that the Kumho tires are new and freshly aligned, and the car has a Weber DCOE carb, which accounts for its enthusiasm on the road. New electronic ignition system, and fresh tune-up including all fluid changes make it ready to run for the Spring! ALL suspension components are working and in very good shape including front end bushings and steering rack gaitors. The interior is immaculate!

You will be hard pressed to find another B in this shape at this price.

Mechanically, the car is in excellent running condition. In December I had the gasket/o rings between the carb and manifold replaced, oil and filter changed, and an oil leak from the filter housing and side block covers as well as rebuilt the head, and flushed the radiator and fixed a small leak. All in all, I just put $1,000.00 into the car last month.

I am a member of a classic car club which holds rallies twice a year and I have run the MGB in several since I purchased it taking it on 400+ mile trips each time. It performs well and I have only had one serious issue where I pushed it too hard and actually blew up the motor.
I had it completely rebuilt from the oil pan up in 2010-11 which cost me just under $5,000.00. Installed new rods, pistons, high compression block, cam shaft, all seal, etc. Literally a brand new engine at that point. I also had the clutch replaced at the same time.

The front drivers floor rusted out and I had a new pan welded in 2013 and the floor is solid. Likewise, I believe there is minimal rust on the car, it could use a paint job but the one it has is the original, and I just have not done much to change the cosmetic items on the car.

I noticed that the previous owner says the interior is immaculate. I am not sure it ever was, but it is still in very good shape, but has wear and tear as you would expect a car of this age to have. It certainly could use a good cleaning and some TLC. It does have a boot cover (?) for when the top is down and I ran it mostly with the top down over the years. The speaker covers for the radio speakers in the door and on the rear deck have fallen off and gotten misplaced over time. It is cosmetic but if I was going to do something it would be one of the first things I would replace. I have done a few things to the interior such as replacing rotted parts of the leather on the door, but it could use new door panels too.

It is an MG with Lucas wiring. I have had a few times where it acted up, but last year I had a full new wiring harness installed which seems to have eliminated a lot of those issues. Occasionally the Lucas smoke acts up and the turn signals go out for a day but usually they come right back on.

The long and short of it is that I am a driver, not a tinkerer. I have invested well over $12,000 in the car but as we all know you never get it back. I am happy to show the car and discuss it further if you have additional questions.
