Porsche introduced the 3.2 liter Carrera in 1984. They were so well received, that they easily outsold US production forecasts. This, combined with the exchange rate at the time led many customers to buy their new Porsche in Europe, and importing it themselves.... This early European Carrera Cabriolet was special ordered in Guards Red with Black full leather, trimmed with red seat and carpet piping. Four spoke leather sport steering wheel, Bosch fog lights, fully tinted glass, power adjustable/heated rear view mirrors, power tilt seats, auto heating, Blaupunkt radio (upgraded to a modern CD), Fuchs 16" forged alloy wheels, Carrera Spoiler front and rear, short shift, limited slip differential, air conditioning, and a Dealer added strut brace and roll over bar. Of course there were "other" benefits of importing one of these (other than being able to get one)....You got the European engine with it's hot rod cams, and an additional oil cooler on the transmission! This particular example I have known since 1988! As part of a "Stable" of cool Porsches, it received the best of care. In 1992 I sold it to a gentleman, here in the Central Pennsylvania Region, who continued to cherish it for the next 19 years! With just 81k. miles, its freshly serviced up, with new German soft top, v-rated tires, tune up and air conditioning conversion, its ready for a new proud owner!
