| Vehicle Description |
| MotoeXotica is proud to offer this nicely restored 1957 Cushman Step Thru. These Scooters are hard to find, especially in this pristine condition. These scooters are a joy to ride; they start easily and have plenty of power to carry a full size adult. Great around town, Pit bike or next parade! This Cushman has been fully restored a year or 2 ago and has been stored in a climate controlled showroom ever since. We have never started the scooter and are unsure of its running condition, We would asume it would run fine since it hasnt been touched since restoration. These scooters are very hard to find and becoming more of a collectable every day. Cushman Motor Works began building motor scooters in the 1930s with the Auto-Glide Model 1 of 1937-38. Already a successful producer of industrial equipment and engines, Cushman went into scooter production with the thought of building and selling more engines. In 1935 a youngster in search of spare parts brought a scooter to the Cushman plant. Powered by an old Cushman washing machine motor, the scooter intrigued owner Charles Ammon, who thought it might make an ideal product. The first Cushman motor scooter came out in 1936, and sales boomed. By 1937, Cushman was serious about motor scooters proclaiming in their ads "low cost, motor transportation." Production of new models each year continued through World War II and in 1949 the name Auto-Glide was retired and the scooters were called Cushmans. Cushman continued to lead the way in the following years but the introduction of European motor scooters to America in the late 1950s and early 1960s meant hard times for the company. The VIN number on this scooter is 928960 The previous owner has had this scooter for nearly 10 years . You will really enjoy this great little scooter. GET OUT AND DRIVE! |
