| Gone were the power-plant pavement pounders that promoted “real” performance as engine output hit rock bottom in the 1975 Corvettes, as big blocks were no longer available and the top 350 V8 was rated at just 205 hp. This would also be the last year for the convertible as it was phased out at the end of the year, as falling sales and a threatened government mandated rollover standard (that never materialized), sealed its fate. (Note: The Roadster would be back in 1986.) Model year changes were few, and included the addition of small black-rubber bumper pads and an electronic ignition. Total sales inched up to 38,465. |
