| General Information |

|
| There would be little changes for the Road Runner for 1974 as the previous year re-design offered more conventional squared-up styling with the front fenders slightly raised above and shifting forward of the hood. Performance seekers were again disappointed as gone were the 440 4 speed cars, now the 400 engine option was the largest engine that could be coupled with the 4 speed. While the 440 was still an option, it could only be mated to the 727 TorqueFlite transmission. The Road Runner was fastly becoming far from the Muscle Car icon that it once was as even quarter mile times were dropping down to the low 16's. 1974 was noted as the last year of the original generation and the last year as a true performance car. |
