Known to many as the end of the great GTO. With more new government regulations the Endura bumper was ended and replaced with a new heavy, Non muscle-Non sporty looking steel one. The hood and tail took on changing dis-liked triangular shapes and this would be the last year the GTO would be based on the LeMans. The 400 V8 was now rated at just 230 hp while the 455 was rated at 250 hp and was only available with an automatic transmission.
