The 1972 Plymouth barracuda was noted as being the end of the performance era. Due to emission regulations, performance seekers were no longer greeted with the big horsepower options. The mighty Hemi and the 383 engines were retired and the remaining engines had to be detuned and the top engine choice for the Barracuda now went to the 340 cid V8 with 240 hp and the convertible was no longer available.
