The 1971 Riviera featured and all new look with "the-boat-tail" rear roof and window section that was full of sensation. Customers either loved or hated the bold new look. Sales did decline a little, down to 33,810 models being produced. However disappointed performance seekers may have helped in the decline in sales as the news came with the downgrade in the engine department. With new strict emission standards General Motors had to have all it's engines running on unleaded gasoline and thus the 455 engine was dropped down to 315hp. |
