1970 Chevrolet Corvette
A sports car capable of handling any road you put it on..

1970 Chevrolet Corvette

The big news for the Corvette in 1970 was Chevrolets new 454 V8 that replaced the power-plant pavement pounding 427s. 1970 sales fell to nearly half, due to the result of a strike at General Motors. A “cheese-grater” grille insert and front fender vents marked the ’70 ‘Vette. The top power-plant option for the ’70 Corvette went to the 454 LS5 rated at 390 hp. Base prices rose to $5,192 for the Coupe and $4,849 for the ragtop, with 17,316 produced.

Only one Corvette with the LS7 (454-cid/465-hp) option was built. GM's policies against ultra-high performance cars at this time led to the option being stopped. The LS7 option is listed in some early 1970 sales literature but none were ever sold.
