| In 1958 the Crovette received new body designs with quad headlamps, a washboard hood featuring simulated louvers, twin decklid chrome strips and simulated front fender air scoops. Adding 2 inches to the width and 10 in length, amazingly the Corvette was little changed in weight with the base model weighing in at 2,793lbs. Engine options continued to improve for 1958 as the fuel injected 283 now produced up to 290 hp. As did performance, sales continued to rise also with 9,168 Corvettes produced in 1958. |
