1958 Cadillac Series 62

The 1958 Cadillac's were carried over from the previous year but it was evident that they continued to be General Motors marquee vehicle and the epitome of the affluent. The lowest priced model, just above $4,600, was a steep price tag for the general American public. New for the year was an innovative grille which featured four headlights and a noticable wider appearance. While tailfins were decreased in size from the previous year, they were still larger than most makes. Also new for 1958 was an extended deck Series 62 sedan which was 8 ½ inches longer than other Cadillac models. Consequently, the 1958 Cadillac's were not known for its lightening speed (0 to 60 mph at 11.5 seconds), which could be due to the fact that its engine was no longer the largest among GM's, being passed up by Oldsmobile and Pontiac. The standard engine available was the 365 cu. in. V8 with 310 hp.
