1939 Studebaker Commander

The Champion helped to resurge the Studebaker Corporation in 1939. It was designed by Raymond Loewy who also redesigned the Lucky Strike cigarette packaging the same year. With its new look and functions, the Studebaker became more economical to run than its competitors; Ford, Chevrolet and Plymouth and by the next year it will have doubled its sales and for the first time since 1928, the Studebaker Corporation produced more than 100,000 units.
