 Vehicle Description
When the new Challenger SRT-8 was announced, everybody and their mother lined up to own one. Its easy to find bone-stock examples that have zero miles and have only been wiped with a diaper. But say youre not into some faux investment scheme and just want a scary fast Mopar that isnt a Viper? Enter this 2009 Challenger SRT-8 with a Vortech blower. How does a 600 horsepower daily driver sound to you? This suckers also the ultimate Q-ship, with nothing more than a set of subtle SPEEDFACTORY decals on the rockers to give away what lurks within. Of course, youd have to be deaf not to know something is up when it rumbles past, but the exterior is shockingly stock. The silver paint helps with the low-profile mission, and although its been driven, this car has always been a fair-weather toy so its extremely clean all around. The Challengers good looks speak for themselves, and the silver plays up the crisp folds in the sheetmetal, particularly the crease that runs along the sides of the car. The SRT package added a chin spoiler, decklid spoiler, and some somewhat menacing 6.1 HEMI badges on the hood, as well as an SRT-8 emblem out back, but overall, most guys wont know what hit them until its too late. To be honest, its worth buying the SRT-8 package just to get the upgraded interior, including the ultra-comfortable heated bucket seats that grab you like theyre covered in Velcro. With red inserts and SRT embroidery, they continue the subtle look of the exterior, but you know youve got something special. Everything was standard, too, so that means stuff like power windows and locks, a powerful climate control system, and a thumping stereo are all here. The only noticeable evidence that this isnt a stock SRT-8 are the A-pillar-mounted boost and air/fuel ratio gauges and special faces on the stock speedo and tach. Youll be glad theyre all there, however, because when you crack the throttle on this one, things start to happen very, very quickly. Dont say we didnt warn you. The stock SRT-8 is no slouch, packing 425 horsepower. But thats garden-variety these days so the guys at the Speedfactory stuffed one of their Stage III packages under the hood. The Vortech V3 supercharger is the heart of the upgrade, along with an air-to-water intercooler, with plumbing thats so slick it looks factory-installed. To manage the extra air coming in, theres a custom-programmed Predator ECU that manages a set of upgraded fuel injectors that can easily keep pace with the Vortechs propensity to make boost. All told, it makes 600 horsepower, yet still starts easily, idles well, and is happy to putt around like a stocker. But sooner or later youll give in to the superchargers whine and dump the throttle, at which point the transmission will slam down two gears and youll be hurtling forward at ludicrous speed. At that point youll be glad for the upgraded suspension and massive disc brakes. A stainless Corsa exhaust system gives it a unique sound, but otherwise it keeps a low profile with stock 20-inch wheels wearing 245/45/20 front and 275/40/20 rear performance radials. So if youre tired of stock Mopars, this SRT-8 is fully sorted with a dealer-installed upgrade. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
