YOU CAN NOW BID YOUR PRICE! TELL US WHAT YOU WOULD PAY. 24 HOUR A DAY BIDDING AT VOLOCARS.COM OR CALL 815 385 3644. ALL REASONABLE BIDS ARE CONSIDERED. NOW IS THE TIME FOR GREAT DEALS! June, 1996, Princess Diana exits a British Airways jet for what would be her last trip to the United States. Princess Dianas visit to Chicago raised $1.4 million and was split up between 3 womens cancer charities; Northwesterns Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center, Gildas Club and Londons Royal Marsden Hospital. As per request of the British Consulate, a Rolls Royce Motorcar was needed for the conveyance of Her Royal Highness. This 1996 Spur III was ordered new, specially for the Princess. She was picked up on the airport tarmac in this Rolls Royce and traveled throughout Chicago for 3 days, interacting with the people proving why she is the queen of peoples hearts. At her final destination, the steps Diana took from this Rolls Royce to her return flight home were the last steps she will ever take on US soil. Since the use by H.R.H. the car was purchased by a woman who appreciated its connection with the princess. The car was seldom driven and has only 19k actual miles. The museum acquired the Rolls for display and to help efforts started by the princess many years prior. The museum along with the premier unveiling of the Rolls helped raise money for the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. The unveiling was also a reunion; in attendance was Vernon Smith, the man who purchased this car new for Dianas use, photographer Stuart Rodgers who had covered Dianas visit and Daniel McAleer, Dianas designated chauffeur. During this reunion a collection of personal photographs, un-published by the media, were brought forward by the attendees. Many of the photos were of Diana and this Rolls. The car has been featured twice in The Flying Lady; a magazine dedicated to Rolls Royce and Bentley Motorcars plus mentioned in People Magazine. In memory of the Princess, a portion of the sale of this car will be donated to the 3 charities that the Princess and this Rolls helped raise money for during her last visit to Chicago. Included with the sale will be the Diana Spur III, the acquired photo collection as well as many other pieces of memorabilia. |
