Some of the finest cars and trucks from throughout the Gulf South will soon be headed to the northern bank of Lake Pontchartrain, when the Second Annual Louisiana Veterans Festival Car and Truck Exhibition returns to the Northshore Harbor Center at the foot of the twin spans in Slidell, Louisiana. In its inaugural year, the exhibition drew over 2,000 guests and nearly 100 cars. It is anticipated those numbers will double for this second year event.

The exhibition is part of the annual Louisiana Veterans Festival, which is sponsored by the East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity. Proceeds from the event support the organization’s Veterans Build Program, providing affordable homes for deserving military heroes and their families.

The festival will take place Saturday, May 16, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Car & Truck Exhibition is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., with awards presented at 5 p.m.

Also included in the event are a special veteran’s tribute ceremony, fabulous fare and beverages, unique arts and crafts, live entertainment with some of the area’s favorite bands and children’s activities, including Habitat’s first ever Children’s Build, which will take place during the festival.

The LVF Car and Truck Exhibition is presented in partnership with Coastal Cruisers of Slidell, with awards provided by Frank’s Accurate Body Shop. The registration fee is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event, and includes a reserved space for the vehicle, admission for two to the Louisiana Veterans Festival, a dash plaques for first 200 vehicles registered, a Certificate of Recognition for all pre-registered participants and an opportunity to share a message on the “Surround a Veteran with Love” wall that will be used in the future construction of a veteran’s home. Additionally, the first 100 paid registrants will receive a beautiful, limited edition Louisiana Veterans Festival bronze commemorative coin valued at $10.
