Event Dates: June 15, 2014 - June 15, 2014 Location: Dallas, Texas
On Sunday, June 15, the Trinity River Revel will celebrate the openings for four Trinity River Corridor milestones: the Sylvan Avenue Bridge, Trinity Skyline Trail, Continental Bridge and West Dallas Gateway. Presented by the non-profit Trinity Commons Foundation and the City of Dallas, Trinity River Revel volunteers have organized eighteen different activities to celebrate the day.
One of these activities will be the Getaway Car Vintage Vehicle Show at the east end of the Continental Bridge. The vintage vehicle show will welcome Revel guests as they the bridge, which is making its re-purposed debut as a pedestrian park over the Trinity River.
Originally opened in 1930 as the Lamar-McKinney Viaduct, the Continental Bridge was a convenient getaway route for early-20th century gangsters. The likes of Bonnie and Clyde could shake off police pursuits by heading toward "the Devil's backyard" of West Dallas.
In a tribute to the bridge's colorful past, we invite owners of pre-1950s cars, truck and motorcycles to exhibit unrestored, stock and modified vintage vehicles to our guests.
