"Micros on the Monument” will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Monument Square in Downtown Racine. This one-day event will be a display of vintage Micro cars from the 50’s and 60’s. Participants and visitors will enjoy a day along the shores of Lake Michigan in a home town atmosphere.
Micro cars are described as less than 11 feet long and/or having an engine with less than 1000cc engine displacement and with three or four wheels. Some of the typical makes of micro cars include the BMW Isetta, Citroen 2CV, Crosley, Daf, Goggomobile, King Midget, Messerschmitt, NSU Prinz, Subaru 360, Vespa 400 and more. Some micro cars are also commonly referred to as “bubblecars” so called because of their semi-spherical shape, such as the Heinkel, Messerschmitt and Isetta.
