"This will be our 5th event and it's a great way to bring awareness about the service provided by the Respite Shelter for homeless men who are in need of a place to recover after surgery, or to provide them with the support and services they need "says Kurt Cotter, the event coordinator.

The Respite Shelter is one of the few shelters of its kind in Arizona and one of only a handful in the entire country. At the Respite Shelter, lives continue to be turned around; some have been able to avoid slipping into first-time homelessness. The Respite Shelter receives referrals from social workers at every hospital in the greater Phoenix area, and from a few other medical sources. Paid staff and volunteers work together, cooperating with Food Stamp Services, Department of Economic Security, AHCCCS, Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), and a variety of other public service agencies to provide much needed support and services to the men in our shelter.
