1940 Ford Woody discovered in the woods
This 1940 Ford Woody had been sitting in the central mountains of Idaho for many years without being seen. After the forest fires of 2007 it became visible. A couple hours work and she was on the trailer and heading for restoration. After all, a woody is about 75% wood. Sheet metal is just a beat away from original iron.

turbo69stang: I am almost positive that what is there was the only steel body wise. The rear section and roof had wood panels and wood framework. They did have metal rear fenders.

panelguy: I'm guessin there would have been some metal framework to hold the wood together on these beauties when new...but I could be wrong ...who knows maybe the wood wasnt even there before the fire hit....?

kettlekeeper: If you look at the driver’s fender, the firemen had put three or four ax marks on the top of the fender. Amazing enough, the frame is good and a lot of the original parts were found. Only had to take a couple trees out to remove and they were used as ground rollers. Owner has already hammered out one of the rear fenders. You know how hard those are to find?
