TYRODS CAR CLUB

The Tyrods Car Club was founded in the fall of 1963 in Galt Ontario, since renamed Cambridge Ontario. A group of senior Galt Colleigate students rented a small shop on highway 24 just south of Galt to repair their vehicles and some members started to build hot rods. In 1966 the club moved to the Galt Knife Building on State Street which was large enough to hold 12 vehicles with room to work on daily drivers. The club was very active for the next 20 years building Street Rods, Drag Cars, Restoration projects and Stock Cars until we lost the use of the building ( present day is the Grand River Brewing Company) and we became a social club, still meeting once a month to plan our events and gather for car related events. ANNUAL FALL CRUZ and CAR SHOW The Tyrods have hosted an annual Fall Cruz and Car Show for the many years consisting of an 80 to 100 km tour encompassing local cities, towns and country sides for pre 1980 vehicles. The tour comes to a completion at a member's landscaped field just south of Guelph Ontario where BBQ food is available along with a corn roast, oldies music, draw prizes, socializing and an evening bonfire. It is fun for the whole family. All proceeds from our Fall Cruzes has been donated to local charities including The Cambridge Humane Society, The Cambridge Firefighters M.D. fund and Christmas Basket Fund, The Tour de Grand cyclist fund drive for "Kids Get Helmets" and The Women's Crisis Services Haven House.
