I finished this late year '47 Chevy 3/4 ton 5 window flat bed truck in 1990. I raised the cab 12 in. and cleaned the frame by hand, disc grinder and wire brush.
It has been stripped to bare metal and painted white to resist Arizona heat. The steel pieces in the bed have been cleaned, straightened, and chromed by a plating shop. This flatbed is original from the factory. The wood is red oak and has been cut to original specs. i.e. 1 1/4" thick X 1 7/8" for stake pockets. The rounded and curved edges say that the stake pockets were designed for wood stakes. This truck has $9,500.00 in chrome on it - in 1990 dollars.
All interior metal has been chromed; includes shifter clutch, hand brake, accelerator pedal, heater and trim on doors. The engine is a 235 in-line 6 cylinder which was rebuilt and has since been driven 20,000 miles. There is an operating after-market A/C unit mounted under the seat.
