| Vehicle Description |
We have for sale a 1945 Studebaker 6X6 military type dump truck. The truck runs good and has a great working hoist. It hasn't been restored but it wouldn't take much to do so. The body has minor dings and things like that but it isn't rusted through anywhere. It's in pretty good working shape.
This model US6 Studebaker 6X6 truck was a United States military truck built in the waning days of World War Two. They are somewhat rare in the USA since many of them were shipped overseas to places like Russia. The fact that this Studebaker 6X6 truck is a dump truck makes it even more rare.
The truck isn't perfect. The angle iron type bumper was bent a bit when we pulled it out of a muddy ditch. The driver's side windshield piece should be replaced. There are missing door and window handles but we have several of those in the glove box and behind the seat. We also have the remnants of a Studebaker parts truck that can be loaded on the back and go with the deal.
The engine in this Studebaker 6X6 truck is a 6 cylinder Hercules 320 JXD. It has always ran well without trouble. I replaced one gear transfer box and the under the clutch pedal starter button with a push button one. Other than that, the truck has been pretty trouble-free according to my memory.
My dad bought this Studebaker truck in 1980 and it has been in our family since. It has been used as a general farm truck but has been mostly in storage in recent years. Oh, I'm not sure if the gas gauge works but the good news is that you can just stick your arm right in there and check the gas level yourself!
The truck can be restored into the military truck that it once was without too much trouble. Or, you can use it as a working truck. If you need to haul something up a steep hill this is the truck for you! Or, if you want to dump something this Studebaker truck will do it because the hoist goes up so high that most anything will slide out of the bed. This isn't a truck for cruising on the freeway but it is a very well-built truck, IMO.
I'm not sure what else to say about it. There's nothing notable wrong with it other than the dings and surface rust and things like that. I'll post several photos with this ad and will have additional ones if you contact me.
