1966 Chevy Step Side 4x4 Pickup Truck
This truck is nothing short of outstanding!
Real head turner.
Video available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkdXlxCEgNI
Beautiful blue and white paint job with blue and white interior.
This truck has advanced suspension, power disc brakes, stabilized steering, a rear mounted gas tank and 350 V8 while keeping the best of the original 1966 step side truck’s shapes and lines, the beautiful wood bed and the cool old style interior.
This truck is a completely rust free Colorado truck with the rare BIG WINDOW cab, this truck is a show winner.
I have spent 5 plus years building this truck and I have been over every square inch of it, painted the frame and replaced or repaired every single little thing. You name it, I’ve touched it. This truck has been completely gone through. New wiring harness and fuse block by Painless Wiring, New steering column painted to match by Flaming River, All new carpet, headliner and door panels with all brushed aluminum handles, window cranks, matching dash knob controls and a matching brushed aluminum digital dash. The steering wheel is from Italy with a cherry wood grip and the wood around the digital dash is stained to match.
For seating I went with an original blue and white Chevy bench seat with matching blue lap seat belts. The carpet is a beautiful Electric Blue and to set it all off, a blue flame shifter knob on the transfer case shifter.
On the outside the truck has custom rear view mirrors, diamond plate Snap-On Tool Box, diamond plate truck bed rails, stainless steel tail lights and stainless steel truck bed trim. Brand new chrome bumpers front and rear and matching chrome step rails to make it easy for the ladies to get in and out.
Under the hood you’ve got one beautiful Chevy Orange Chevy V-8 sporting a chrome Edelbrock 600 CFM four barrel carburetor with manual choke and a high volume chrome fuel pump to feed it. The valve covers are my favorite, they are NOS (New Old Stock) from a 1970 Corvette. Electronic ignition with blue silicone pro racing plug wires all routed out of sight keeping a very clean appearance for this beautiful motor. All the vacuum lines are routed metal lines, all fan belt pulleys are polished aluminum, the radiator fan is electric by Perma-cool, both radiator hoses are polished stainless steel, sports a high output chrome alternator, headers are ceramic coated by Hooker. The oil pan, fly wheel cover and transmission pan are all matching polished finned aluminum. There are many other goodies too numerous to mention.
Engine compartment is painted to match the exterior along with the vacuum brake assist and the heater coil box creating a very nice clean show area to display this beautiful example of a classic Chevy 350 engine.
Obviously this truck has been a very detailed labor of love. If trucks are your thing, I assure you, you will be thrilled with this one. EVERYONE just loves this truck.
Just installed a new Pioneer CD, Ipod Stereo that sounds killer. Also just finished installation of transfer case kit to make it part time four wheel drive along with heavy duty Warren lock out hubs. Really made it a nice driving truck. The transmission is a rebuilt Turbo 350 and works great.
OK, let’s see, what have I forgotten? Dual aluminized dual exhaust, like new Michelin XLT tires, virtually every component in the truck is new. Even things that you won’t see like the colored springs inside the rear brakes, break shoes and pads, the steering box, light bulbs, the heater core, the vent hoses under the dash, you name it.
Everything works and works great. This truck is outstanding and completely reliable, drive it anywhere.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
