1949 Chevrolet 3100
If you''''''''re looking for a great running and driving old truck that''''''''s not the everyday pickup style you should take a look at this rare Chevy "Panel" truck.
This particular 1949 Chevy Panel Truck has been repainted in its original "Swift" red hue. The engine in the truck currently is a more powerful 1955 235 "Thrift Master" replacing the original 216 cu. Inch inline-6. The transmission is a three speed manual operated from the steering column -- it''''''''s has a very low 1st gear, but gets up and goes with the current 4:27 rear end gears in it (a higher gear set come with the truck). Other new parts include: radiator, brakes & lines, master cylinder, stainless steel exhaust, rebuilt carb, new fuel pump, new gas tank, complete top end gasket set has been installed on the engine, intake and exhaust manifolds, new correct air cleaner (I have the copper filter but put in a more efficient paper one) brand new 16" Coker "wide white" bias ply tires (maybe 100 miles on them), all new chrome all around, the chrome trim rings for windows are new in box (included), I have complete new rubber and stainless steel door seals in the box, comes with 4 Dick Cepek mags with tires all brand new (see pics), and it has a custom cover. One item that must not be overlooked is the very RARE BF Goodrich Heater that was an option that the dealer installed under the dash -- these are extremely rare. This unit is a working unit but the heater hoses are not yet attached. The truck has been updated to a more reliable and easy to service 12-volt system. Some items that need attention: The original dash should get restored / replaced -- these instrument clusters are easy to find in the aftermarket or you can install a new digital setup from Dakota. The body and paint really make this little truck stand out, the wood floors are in GREAT shape with the only rust being evident in the front floor pan which are readily available out in the aftermarket, and pretty easy to replace. There isn''''''''t a lot to these trucks, they are VERY easy to work on and most parts are available online or at swap meets.
This is a southern truck that was brought up from Tennessee a few years back which explains how clean it is -- all of the work previously described has been done SINCE it was brought here. If you''''''''re looking for a classic Chevy truck that turns heads, is pretty rare, and you can easily drive while you take it to the next level - I urge you to check this old gal out.
