Occasionally this model American LaFrance is seen for sale in the $6000 to $18000 price range. Most dont run well or at all in the lower price range and when closely inspected they have some or many of the following problems. They usually are not dependable drivers but run OK sitting still. The tires are moderately to heavily dry rotted, the paint is heavily worn and faded, there is heavy rust problems in some areas, and much of the original equipment is missing or In inoperable condition. This very well kept fire engine is just the opposite of all the above and is frequently mistaken to be one of the local fire departments older trucks still in service and in very good condition.
This a great turn key truck ready to go in a minutes notice with shiny paint and stainless and chrome and polished aluminum diamond plate fixtures, panels and running boards and floors. Its nearly as easy to drive and handle as a car.
This fire engine draws a crowd at every show, parade and event. It was in active service until 7 years ago by the fire department that originally purchased it new. Since then it has been in a museum for about five years while also being used for parades, shows and events and on collector vehicle tours to the present time. Its still in incredible up kept original condition and has been a dependable driver for over 600 miles over the past 6 months. The pump still functioned well when last used by the fire department and has not been damaged or disabled since then.
