This vehicle is presently just outside of Calgary Alberta. Buyer does NOT want his name published,NOR does he want anyone around his yard. Any negotiating must then come thru myself...as I do not want any money from this transaction.Just to help this fellow out.
I purchased this vehicle back on July 19th,2004 from an Antique Car Museum owner. He aquired it from the RCAF base ( Rivers AFB,Manitoba )It is painted HARVARD-Yellow(as are the Hydro trucks of those years).
One complication: It has an incorrect TAG. Guys came here to purchase an early-`30s Chrysler 3W coupe & showed great interest in this `55-PU,& a `47 Mercury grill in perfect condition. They opted to come to get their coupe,while we were gone for the weekend. (Sept 25th,`04) Needless to say that we discovered the Mercury grill missing,the PU tampered with,& numerous other car-parts gone(only discovered later).
The VIN Tag was replaced with one from another model. Which wasn`t even noticed when this Calgary guy demanded the truck,drove out,looked it over carefully,examined the Lawyer-Legal-Indenture (with Serial Number)& hauled his prize home.
Police were called in to dust for fingerprints,& visited the buyers home in Winnipeg,(Mercury Truck in yard),but nothing could be proved.Got lots of Crank-Calls & Emails from him & his pals since then.
The present owner ( a long-time auto restorer ) did not notice the " wrong ?? tag ) until much later.,accusing me of fraudulently altering the VIN & demanding $2,000 or he`ll go to the Police. We have been trying to locate a `55 Tag for some time.
If YOU have a Tag for a 1955 Chevy Shortbox Step-side PU,yiou may be able to place that tag on this truck,should you decide to buy it. You1`ll have to prove to DMV that the truck it came off was not involved with a crime or serious accident....or was just being Crushed from old age.
I sold him the truck for $2,759.oo including spare hood & other parts plus Loading. He may want more for it,but you have to go thru ME to get it. Have lots of Pix when it left my yard.In Very Good condition for Resto or Rod.
