 Vehicle Description
An 99.9% original 1949 Diamond T,"201""Production # states i was told by ford,Archives,or wher They lead me, I have done "EXTENSIVE REASEARCH" on This diamond T !And other truck, historical societys The serial # states "2015689 I broke it down for you the 201 is the "make" The "5689" Is the "production number "body type zc50fb" And that broken down is zc-5-Ofb Stands for the "body" type. The zc stood for the original owners "name" Like For example. "Zacharia Cunningham" "OFB" Stands for "open flat bed" The "5" stood for "5" windows less then 27,000 "original"miles on her, I have A 1967 title And have done "extensive research for provenonnce" body has zero dents. As far As I can tell ,Again And I looked hard. Stainless Is In good Condition, IT has a few minor dings, Nothing Serious Or Major. I am being very accurate In this description.,All intact except 2 small strips that run along hood,3 small rust spots as far as I can tell, And Again I looked hard. She never really left The farm ,Hence low miles! Passenger seat "green" And in good condition, drivers seat, I found behind shed with backrest.fabric wasted away but a few small pieces And 1 larger One And It Was Diamond T red, So the "red and "green" seat combinaton is pretty cool. there are zero dents on body(flawless), As far As I can tell and I looked hard. The truck has never sat on its frame. So is rock solid, I jumped up and down on the steps a few times to make sure.there are 2 quarter size dents on "headlights" where the hood would tap them. And the hood Is slighly bent on both sides Because of that,no big deal. A frame off is Recomended due The Rubber condition, but then you will have a very very rare totally original collectors Piece. (Priceless At that moment.) (original)six cylinder "hercules" Engine,6 tires ,"Dually rear end" with heavy duty pumpkin gears truck weighed 4,200lbs at delivery (heavy duty) flatbed on it,wood rotted away On The Flatbed, All hardware intact they made 107 201s in 1942 zero through 1943-1946 1947 -1,400, 1948,1,379, IN 1949 the production numbers start at 5,097 and i have #5,689 (the last one acconted for as far as any historical society or museum/archive states. That means # "592"One made In 1949. There was a fire at the "ford" archives in the early 70s and a significant portion of there papers destroyed .we may never know how many were made...we know they made In 1949 1-5,000 that weighed less then 5,000 And 5,001-10,000 over 5,000 lbs And how many of those were 201s with between 1942 and my number in 1949,were 201s. we can account for 3,478,201s made between just those years, and we know less then 6,000 were ever made. that leaves 2,522 left, though the number is Far less then that for they made less then 6,000 and my math starts at 6,000 so I have # "5689" made. And 2,091 made IN 1941-1930s. So my vehicle was orderd in 1949 and registerd in 1950. it is one of the last there is no doubt.and the family book says less than 6,000 were made. I can account for just under 4,000 3,478 to be exact.,in The 1940s In 1942 the poduction #s start at 2,208 so accounting for the 201s made in 1941 and earlier 2,208 and adding the ones made from 1942, prodution starts at 2,208-2315=287made.1947 production starts at 2,316-3716=1,400made In 1947.In 1948,The production # starts at 3,717-5,096= 1,379 Made In 1948. In 1949(The golden year!)production #s start at 5,097 (With my title being,"5,689" Makes It the 592 made that year ,after that "start" production# It has no end,And It Is the last one "accounted" for.It only goes by weight, after that in 1949, (what is left after the fire) 3,478 were made.adding these figures together(Before 2,208 In 1942 comes to a grand total of 5,506 accounted for..plus my # 5,689 leaves more made before I found one years ago, numbering 5,689 And the family book says "less" then 6,000 were ever made,so 5,689 is getting preety close To the end!It may indeed be the last one made. And 99.9% original condition, buy 4-5 parts (that includes glass ,and you have an authentic 1949 "custom" ordered 1949 201. How can you price sch a rare and highly sought after truck ? I start it at what I was offerd by a collector from pensylvania $25,000.whom I thoght would give It a good home. If you are travelling far,I will consider that and take that in to effect, scott.
