Stk. 1854 1959 Chevrolet Apache Custom
With over one year in the making and over $160,000 invested in parts and labor; this 1959 Chevrolet Apache is well beyond being a labor of love. It all started out with the idea of taking a classic two-wheel drive pick-up and transforming it into a four-wheel drive predator. The transformation began in 2010, after the owner had selected Hicks Total Performance to do the honors. After receiving the Apache body shell, it was blasted, massaged, shaved and the recipient of this stunning Blue Metallic paint scheme you see here. They then measured and fabricated a custom powder-coated frame from 10 gauge box tube to support this beauty. Beefy four-leaf springs teamed up with Rancho shocks in front and five-leaf springs with a Rancho quad-shock set-up in the rear suspend a pair of Dana 60HD axles. Rolling stock includes a foursome of massive 24X10 chromed Cruiser alloy wheels shod with Toyo Open Country 37X13.50R24 rubber to keep it all on the ground. With a truck of this proportion an equally epic driveline was called for; the clear choice was a Big Block Chevy 502 crate motor complete with Ram Jet intake and headers. Handling the prodigious torque is a TCI 700R4 backed up by a Dana 300 transfer case and custom shafts from The Drive Shaft Shop. To add some beauty to this beast, the interior and bed had to be special and Finishline Tops and Interiors made it so by extending the exterior color into the interior with a color-keyed, dashboard that features Dakota digital instrumentation, billet control knobs and ac vents; along with a Vintage Air control panel and slick custom waterfall console. The leather and billet steering wheel with chromed tilt-steering column and billet pedal kit really ups the bling ratio. Used extensively throughout under the hood, firewall, interior and bed is a blend of Custom Collection materials in Caramel with accents of Custom Quill in oak that looks like Ostrich. The comfy low-back bucket seats along with its custom center arm rest make the journey that much more pleasurable. From its power train to its electric powered running-boards this eye-popping Apache will steal the show everywhere you go.
