 Vehicle Description
Ford pickups didn't become the best-selling vehicle of all time for nothing... Combining utility with style, performance and durability, the F-series was the America's post popular nameplate for over a quarter-century. The F-100 half-ton pickup was the mainstay of Ford's light truck lineup throughout the 1960s and 1970s, until it was slowly superseded by the F-150, also known as the "Heavy Half" because of its slightly larger payload than the F-100. These days, high-quality restorations of vintage Ford pickups aren't that hard to find, simply because they made so many to start with.

But this 1977 F-150 is truly one of a kind. First, it's a super cab -- a rare option in the 1970s. From the factory, this came with a long bed and an extra-long wheelbase. Which sounds great until you actually try to drive it. No parking space is large enough, and no curb is safe when you're behind the wheel of an extended cab, long bed pickup. This uniquely modified truck is built on a short wheelbase, with a custom-made extra-short bed, keeping the overall length to that of a short bed pickup. So you get the extra space of an extended cab with the utility of a truck bed -- plus easy maneuverability thanks to the short wheelbase.

This pickup is very comfortable and well-appointed, with power steering, power brakes and dealer-installed air that blows cold. The front seats have new plush upholstery, and the rear bench is covered in vinyl in good original condition. Door panels and dash pad are in excellent condition, and all gauges and instrument lights work.

Outside, the truck has a high-quality paint job in Ford Medium Blue. The sheet metal is very straight, there's no rust, and the custom bed was fabricated to a very high standard. The inside of the bed has a tough, textured coating similar to Rhino Liner, but in the same color as the truck. The wheels are Ford alloy rims from a later model pickup -- they look great with that medium blue paint. The grille and inserts are perfect, and all chrome and brightwork gleams -- including the tailgate, which often takes a beating on vintage trucks.

Under the hood lies a giant 460 cubic inch V8 -- the largest production motor Ford ever made -- upgraded with headers and a high-rise intake, and mated to Ford's heavy duty C6 automatic transmission. Power delivery is very smooth and strong throughout the rpm range. As you can see from the photos, detailing under the hood looks great -- very clean and tasteful without being garish.

Extended cab short bed trucks are a very popular format today, and this is perhaps the only vintage pickup with this configuration on the market. If you're interested in learning more about this comfortable, great driving, good looking, one-of-a-kind truck, give us a call at 404-692-5250.
