 Vehicle Description
International Scouts have really come into their own over the last few years as interest in classic 4x4s has grown -- especially low-mileage, fully-restored trucks like this one.

This 1979 Scout II is one of the most correct, best-restored Scouts I have seen -- and it wouldn't be a stretch to say it looks better now than it did when it rolled off the assembly line in Fort Wayne. This example was built by one of the Southeast's foremost Scout restorers known for his attention to detail. This one has its factory line-setting ticket and is correct to all codes.

The body was and solid to begin with, and it's just been repainted to a high standard in correct Omaha Orange with white accent stripes down both sides. The floor pans and rockers are rust-free and very solid, as is the rust-prone cowl area between the hood and the windshield. The door bottoms look great as do the posts and jambs. This Scout has been nicely detailed underneath and under the hood -- with original decals and the original restored International air cleaner, it has a great stock look in the engine compartment. The truck is wearing brand new meaty 235/75R15 tires on steel wheels with factory hubcaps in great condition. In short, it has that highly correct stock look we really appreciate.

The vintage look continues inside, with the rare and desirable "Russet" plaid interior in nearly perfect condition. The seats have been partially reupholstered, but the original plaid fabric inserts were retained and they look fantastic in all their retro glory. This Scout has new carpet, headliner, dashpad, door panels and weatherstripping, all done in correct materials. The dash looks great, with the original AM radio still installed and all gauges and lights working properly.

Under the hood is a numbers-matching 345 cubic inch V8 mated to a T427 four-speed gearbox. Front and rear axles are both sturdy Dana 44s, and both high and low range work perfectly. The engine has received a full tune up, including plus, wires, distributor cap and rotor, belts, a complete carb rebuild and an oil service. With power steering and power brakes (front disc), this Scout is both comfortable and easy to drive. It's quiet, too, with a new muffler, and super dry underneath. This truck runs great, and is ready for its next 100,000 miles.

Give us a call at 404-692-5250 if you're interested in learning more about this incredibly restored International Scout II.
