Professional Build
Sporting around our little Spanish Village by the Sea is one cool Chevy Resto Rod Panel that was designed and built by one of our local legends, Rib Trader Rick. Over the years Rick had created one of San Clementes most legendary eateries and his taste in Automotive Hot Rodding is almost as good as his ribs were. His classic custom painted flamed-out Yellow Panel Truck has graced our town and beaches for many years with his RIB TRADER logo on the side. That little car is an icon around these parts. Anyone that has surfed Sano over the last 20 years has seen this car evolve into what it is today.
Those early 50s smooth lines, gorgeous front grille work and monster front fenders offer generous interior space for hauling almost anything.
Rick has built and maintained this little beauty with the help of Rays Automotive in San Clemente over the last two decades. When he and Ray laid out the plans for this 52 Panel he had two goals in mind: expressing his personal vision of what a resto rod hot rod work truck/surf mobile should be oh and also make it plenty fast!!
The Body wrap is a deep pale of stunning Light Chrome Yellow 2 Stage Paint with 3 Stage Green/Blue Flames. The body work is very high-quality with a high-gloss finish. And nothing looks nicer than the rear quarters welded and moulded to the rear end instead of bolted on when felt ribbing in between. It makes for a much cleaner and rust free environment. You would be proud to show this baby at any rod meet anywhere in the Country. It would also make a memorable impression in your town for your business. And if that business includes making deliveries; even better. One thing for sure you will be comfortable and riding in style.
The modern engine, transmission and suspension make it ride and perform more like a new Cadillac than an old 50s truck. Make no mistake, the addition of Power Steering and 4-Way Power Disc Brakes to a rig like this are the two absolute must have options for work or fun. I would not own one of these cars set up any other way. Especially if I wanted to get in it for work, driving to a show or even on a vintage tour or trip across Country.
This little Panel is sensational and has very limited miles since Rick dropped this Crate 350 in it a couple of years ago (less than 12K).
The Bodywork and overall craftsmanship that went into this build over the years is simply the best. Rick sparred nothing into putting this together and making it better and better as the years went by. Rick has always had several cars going so this was relegated to delivery work for the business and trips to the beach with his boards in the back.
We dont know how many miles he has put on it over the years, but we know there are plenty of miles and smiles left in this gorgeous little gem.
Early 50s Chevy Panels like this are getting harder and harder to find. And finding them with no rust is even more of a trick.
This Chevy Panel is completely sorted and runs and drives like a dream.
