Heres the story on this amazing 1970 Mustang Mach 1: its a real Q-code 428/4-speed car, one of only 320 built that year, backed by a Marti Report and refinished in the original colors. Originally a California car, the interior is factory original, and its flat-out the coolest fastback weve featured in a long time. According to the Marti Report that accompanies this awesome Mach 1, the car has been repainted in its original yellow with black accent stripes. Even better, this is a true 1 of 1 car. Thats right, ordered as a California emissions car, this one is extremely rare, and things remain factory correct today. All the sheetmetal appears to be original to the car, and there are no signs of rust or damage anywhere. The 69-70 Mustangs are widely regarded as the best-looking of the bunch, and theres no arguing with the aggressive looks of the Mach 1, with its special rocker moldings and deep-breathing hood scoop. The bodywork remains in outstanding condition, with good gaps all around, and very few signs of use even though the restoration is now several years old. Somehow, someone was able to resist driving this car, which has left it fresh and ready for the next lucky owner. All the original trim, including the rear window slats, front and rear spoilers, and chrome bumpers are in show condition, and details like the honeycomb applique on the rear valence are excellent. At first glance the interior looks so nice that youd assume its been restored. However, once you take a closer look, youll notice all the tell-tale signs that its actually original to the car. Its hard to believe those seats havent been restored, but you can tell by the deep pleats that they are factory-issue, not reproductions. Theres a rare and unusual tilt column topped by a woodgrained steering wheel, and overhead the original seat belts remain affixed to the roof. Carpets and door panels are also exceptionally well preserved, another testament to the level of car this car has received its entire life. A Hurst shifter manages the close-ratio 4-speed, which is also original to the car, and entertainment is provided by an unusual AM/FM stereo radio. The trunk is finished as original, and a peek under the mat reveals solid original floors with no signs of rust. This car is impressive. The engine is a date-code correct 428 Cobra Jet, fully rebuilt to stock specifications and fitted with all the original components that were on this cars original engine. That means that things like the intake manifold, heads, carburetor, alternator, and even the radiator are correct and authentic, having been installed on the car when it was new. The block is finished in proper Ford Blue with a chrome-topped air cleaner wearing proper reproduction decals. A glance underneath will reveal just how solid and clean this car is, with the numbers-matching 4-speed and 9-inch rear full of 3.25 gears that make the most of the engines prodigious torque. Argent styled steel wheels were original equipment, but who can argue against a set of Magnum 500s when they look this perfect wearing fat 225/60/15 BFGoodrich white-letter radials? This is a real-deal big block Mach 1. If youve been watching the market, you know these are the Next Big Thing, so dont hesitate. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
