 Vehicle Description
Every now and again you meet a collector of motorcars whose passion runs well beyond the what or how many regarding the contents of their garage. These unique individuals see their automobile collection as a series of works of art; keeping them as original as possible is significantly more important and valuable than a wonderful looking car that has undergone a frame off restoration (or two). The exterior patina; the perfect interior and consoles un-marred by the careless tossing of keys, change and other paraphernalia; the original door moldings in almost perfect condition; a steering wheel darkened over time by the natural oils from the drivers hands. Add to these other important features offered by a vehicle like this such as the original emblems and badges (that still retain their vibrant colors after all the years); the original numbers matching mechanical components from front to back and low, original miles. All these things and more separate a good car from a truly remarkable car. We, both you and I, are fortunate to have access to a few cars from one collector that without doubt falls into this category. The first was an amazing 1968 T-Top Corvette Coupe; the second was a beautiful 1956 Corvette convertible with a removable hardtop; the third is this beautiful 2 owner numbers matching 1960 Corvette convertible in Honduras Maroon. This car has the original 283ci engine with 4 speed manual transmission. The car has traveled 42,400 documented original miles and it also has 100% original paint and interior. This car has the factory soft top only which is in 110% condition. The car drives like a 10; the sound, acceleration and the fact that it is essentially rattle free make this an unbelievable ride. Like the 56, I drove in this car and experienced everything about it for myself; a truly awesome ride in a very attractive and desirable color combination. One of the really amazing aspects of this car is the condition of the instrument cluster and the actual gauges. No fading or yellowing, they are in perfect condition. The dashboard leather has come up on the passenger side (as shown in the pictures) but the owner wants the car to remain as it is original. The steering wheel, the gauges, seats, and door panels look fantastic as do the badges etc. Everything works as it is supposed to. The mechanism to the air vent feels like the car came off the assembly line yesterday. It is a perfect car. Also like the 56, if I tell you how solid this car is you would doubt my word; if I tell you how the engine sounds and performs you would likely doubt it also. However, I rode in the car, I drove over railroad tracks, I felt the acceleration and noted the lack of rattles. If you are lucky enough to ride in this car, you will know exactly what I mean; and there will be no doubt. This car is a survivor and is being offered at $67,500; this car will make its new owner proud to drive a true original piece of American history.
