This Ford XL is in great overall condition and has been well taken care of. It has always been garaged and has not seen any rain since the current owner has had the vehicle. The previous owner had the vehicle painted the correct factory color as well as had the top replaced and bumpers rechromed. The paint has a nice shine to it and is very presentable. The body is solid and there does not appear to be any bondo or body filler on the vehicle. There are some various chips and scratches in the paint with only one big paint chip on the left rear tail light housing (pictured). The convertible top is in good condition, it only has one very small tear in the left rear corner. The trim on the vehicle is in good condition. The grill is straight and complete. The front and rear bumpers are straight and still have a pretty good shine to them. The tail light lenses are in good condition and do not have any cracks. The glass is complete throughout the vehicle but the windshield does have one small star on the passenger side. The Goodyear Regatta 2 tires are in great shape and have 11/32nds of tread left on them and there arent any signs of cracks. The 428 badges on the fenders will go with the vehicle; they were removed for fear of someone stealing them. The badges will need to have their pins repaired.
The interior is clean and in good condition. The previous owner had installed new upholstery and carpet. The seats do not have any rips or tears in them but the drivers seat does have a bit of wear on the lower portion of the backrest (pictured). The door panels are complete and in good condition but do show some age just above the XL emblem. The carpets are clean and in great shape and do not show any wear as floor mats have been in place. The dash is complete and all of the knobs are in place. The steering wheel and horn ring are complete.
The Ford XLs 428 engine starts up easily and idles nicely. The engine was rebuilt with 98,016 miles on it in February of 1990 and currently has 19,042 miles since the rebuild. During the rebuild new valves and seats suitable to todays fuel were used. Engine build data will go along with the vehicle as well. The current owner did not take any shortcuts in the rebuild and all 8 cylinders were sleeved to standard bore. The owner has taken meticulous care of the vehicle and has kept records of all services since he has owned the vehicle. He has only used Mobil 1 synthetic oil in the engine. The previous owner had claimed to have had the transmission rebuilt but the current owner does not have those records. The XL drives nicely down the road and does not have any mystery noises. The front end seems tight and it tracks straight. The transmission shifts as it should and without hesitation. The AC works well in this vehicle and is a great creature comfort to have in an older vehicle. The electrical system seems to be sound and all of the lights and signals work as they should. The hydraulic top operates as it should. The brakes on this vehicle work as they should as well.
The current owner only hopes that this Ford XLs next owner will love and appreciate this vehicle as much as he has over its life. He has driven this beautiful convertible all over Northern California and hopes the next person will do the same.
This XL will make someone a fantastic driver. With plenty of power from the 428 cu. in. engine this car will be sure cruise till your heart is content.
Various manuals and spare parts will also be included with the vehicle.
