Super clean, well sorted, and covered in the brightest red paint weve ever seen, this 1940 Ford coupe is a pro-built rod that you can drive cross-country with confidence and still grab the big awards at shows. Thats 100% Henry Ford steel, and it has been given a frame-off rebuild to show standards befitting any concours piece. The bodywork is stunning, with incredible fit and finish, tight gaps, and a glass-smooth PPG Torch Red paint job that speaks for itself. When you build a car this nice, you dont need flames or wild graphics, they eye is simply drawn to the original details that simply pop off the surface. From the iconic V-shaped grille and teardrop headlights to the chevron shaped taillights, the body and trim are OEM with no modifications. Who can argue with a car that looks this amazing? Seven matching hides were used to create the stunning interior, with every surface covered in that supple bone-colored leather. Stitched together by Sams Trim Shop, the power bucket seats are borrowed from a Chrysler LHS, but have been modified so extensively youd never recognize them. Sculpted door panels and a beautifully fitted headliner must have taken weeks to complete, and even the tidy rear bench is artfully designed. The leather-wrapped dash features a set of elegant retro-looking gauges, as well as secondary controls for the Vintage Air A/C system and six-speaker Panasonic stereo system with trunk-mounted CD changer. A GM tilt column wears a LaCarrera steering wheel wrapped in more of that luscious leather, and the carpets are a tight weave that looks elegant and wears like iron. In the mold of all great rods, the trunk area has also been upholstered to match, with custom panels hiding things like the CD changer and battery. Great rods also need to be reliable as well as visually stunning under the hood, so this one uses a fully dressed 350 Chevy topped by a Holley double pumper. Theres enough chrome in here to outfit a fleet of 58 Buicks, covering things like the alternator and A/C compressor, air filter, valve covers, and even the intake manifold itself. A big Griffin radiator and A/C condenser are cooled by a pair of SPAL electric fans with a manual override under the dash, and all the plumbing and wiring has been neatly hidden as much as possible. Underneath theres a TH350 3-speed automatic feeding a Ford 8-inch rear with easy cruising 3.00 gears. Up front, a Mustang II independent suspension, power rack-and-pinion steering, and disc brakes add a modern feel, while quiet mufflers make it easy to travel vast distances without wearing you out. It rides on a set of staggered chrome American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wearing 195/65/14 front and 235/70/15 rear blackwall radials. Go price professionally built 40 Fords, then take a good, long look at this one. But dont wait too long, because this is exactly the kind of car that tends to find a new home almost instantly.
