 Vehicle Description
Classic Car Marketing, Inc. is privileged to have just acquired an exquisite collection of rare and pristine motor cars offered for the first time to the public. This 1935 Packard Twelve Convertible Sedan 4 door is one of the rarest Packards produced and it just doesnt get much better than this. Series 1208 has 175 bhp, 473.3 cu. in. L-head V12 engine, three speed manual transmission, front and rear semi elliptic leaf spring suspension, four wheel power assisted mechanical drum brakes, with a wheelbase of 144 inches, and wonderful open air touring capability with extremely rare dual cowl. This is one of just 788 Packard Twelves for 1935 and was the most expensive style in the catalog. This is an older, high quality restoration, recently freshened with all rebuilt mechanical. Packards original V12, the Twin Six, was discontinued after 1923 and replaced by the smaller Single Eight. In 1930, rival Cadillac introduced its V16, then a V12. In response, Packard readied an all new Twin Six, later renamed Packard Twelve. For 1935, all Packards received new bodies, with front doors hinged on the ''B'' pillar, a trend that was sweeping the industry. The luxurious Dietrich Coachbuilders built a few of the production bodies including the Convertible Sedan, body style 873, making this model even more rare and sought after for the serious Packard collector. The owner of this magnificent motor car invested countless hours on the engine and gear box, in addition to the attention to detail to all of the cosmetic items. As presented today, the engine bay is authentic in its appearance and specification, down to the correct wiring for the accessory lights. With its recent maintenance and restorative work, it will stand up extremely well alongside any number of classic automobiles in its era. Offered at $295,000 OBO. This is an opportunity to own one of the best examples of a 1935 Packard Twelve Convertible Sedan from truly a collection of perfection.
