Chevrolets highly popular Chevelle hit a styling high watermark in 1967 with refinements to the front grille and taillight panel. The 67 Chevelles svelte new contours and flying buttress roof treatment made it one of the handsomest muscle cars of the era, and its mature good looks have traversed the decades without aging, as proven by this 1967 SS396 coupe. Finished in glowing Granada Gold paint capped with a contrasting Black vinyl roof, it was the subject of a thorough frame-off restoration that included new quarter panels and new trunk and floor pans. Since its completion it has been driven just 275 miles under the power of its L34 396/350 HP big-block V-8, which uses a Holley 4-barrel and stock exhaust manifolds with Gardner reproduction dual exhaust. This examples Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt 3.73:1 Positraction rear end were joined on the equipment list with power steering and Delco Moraine-boosted power front disc brakes. The 15-inch Rally wheels were a required part of the power brake option; here they are fitted with the Redline bias ply tires that were also a part of the Super Sport model specification. Because the Chevelle Super Sport was typically very well equipped. Bucket seats with center console and clock, an AM radio, factory gauges and the blinker tach, so named for its mounting location that obscures the left turn signal. Collectors looking for a high degree of attention to detail will find it here in such items as NOS T-3 headlights, original-style Delco battery and Delco spiral shock absorbers.
