 Vehicle Description
Given their popularity in the hot-rodding world, building a standout 1941-1942 Willys seems like a challenge. This 41 Willys coupe disagrees. Finished in 2012, the car has seen just 190 miles since completion. The build starts with an Outlaw body and frame package that was prepped to perfection and shot with a coat of Candy Blue Metallic paint. Its a strong choice and one that stands out even further thanks to hand-painted black, white, and gray stripes that form a grid pattern just behind the doors. Under the pointed hood, a GM 502ci block receives some help from a polished Weiand 6-71 blower, dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors, and polished shotgun intake up top. Other highlights include the HEI ignition and ceramic coated headers that feed a stainless exhaust system with Borla mufflers. Behind the big block, a tried and true GM TH400 3-speed automatic takes car of shifts before spinning power back to a Currie 9-inch center section with limited slip and 4.10 gears. The foundation is a 2x4 box tube chassis thats been fitted with a Heidts Mustang II front clip, tubular A-arms, a 4-link, and coilovers all around. Manual rack-and-pinion steering makes turns easy while giant Wilwood disc brakes rein in the 502. At the corners, Mickey Thompson wheels and tires tuck neatly into the oversized fenders. Between the doors, a cozy cabin for two is completed by new carpet, Procar seats, Stewart Warner gauges, a tilt column, and custom door panels with stainless inserts.
