This beautiful 1980 Mercedes Benz 450 SL is Thunder Yellow with a Tan MB Tex interior. It is powered by an all aluminum 4.5L DOHC fuel injected gasoline engine. It features a detachable hardtop roof and the very handy roof hoist contraption, which enables one person to lift the roof off the car for top down cruising.

I bought it from a local guy in Tarboro, where it sat garaged for 9 years. I have done all the hard work to recondition the car with recent repairs/replacements include new tires, timing chain, fuel injectors, spark plugs, flushing of brake and fuel systems, new fluids, alignment, and new front and rear suspension bushings, steering coupler. She starts, runs and drives, and seems to have good power, can reach 100+ on highway. The salvage title was due to a minor flooding event in 1999, and has not affected my ability to insure it, and has resulted in no interior damage or electrical issues.

What works: All electrical items with exception of radio and power antenna. Brakes, steering, tranny are all good. Interior in very good condition, no rips or tears. Body is very solid with two tiny areas of rust - one where roof joins car, one at outer rocker. Paint is good condition.

What does not work: AC, radio, antenna, odo/speedo not hooked up. Fuel gauge works but is suspect.

What (I think) it needs:
1. Engine runs rich, needs fuel injection tuning, possibly rebuild on fuel distributor.
2. Fabric top needs to be replaced.
3. Investigate and fix radio / antenna issue
4. Fuzzy dice.

This car is currently registered and can be driven anywhere as it is. Needs some TLC, but price WAY below most SLs out there. Not interested in trades, cash only. No low ballers please. Thanks for your interest.
