 Vehicle Description
This 1969 ragtop is one of the cleanest Camaro convertibles weve ever featured here at Streetside Classics. With a rotisserie restoration in 2007 but driven just 33 miles since, its still as fresh as the day it rolled out of the shop and ready to cruise immediately. Affordable muscle doesnt get much better than this! For pure eyeball appeal, theres not much this side of a pink 59 Cadillac that can beat a sizzling red 69 Camaro ragtop. As I mentioned, this car received a professional rotisserie restoration and has been in the owners private collection ever since, so it has barely even seen pavement. The Garnet Red paint job is vastly superior to any factory job, and its noticeable even from a distance that someone went the extra mile on this car. All the goodies are there, from the chin spoiler and cowl induction hood up front to a ducktail spoiler in back, all draped in factory-style black SS stripes. Of course, with a 327 you know its not a real SS, but most folks wont know the difference. The proper emblems and markings have been faithfully installed, along with upgrades like the quarter panel "gill" trim and stainless wheel arch trim, both of which were options. Above that freshly chromed bumper theres a blacked-out SS grille, while the shiny rear bumper wears optional bumper guards. And like I said, the workmanship is impressive. The black bucket seat interior is also brand new, showing almost no wear since it was installed. The upgraded upholstery and headrests were new for 69, and you already know how much we dig the horseshoe shifter and center console on these cars. Carpets, door panels, and other soft parts were all brand new when the car was finished, and with only 33 miles, theyre still like new. The gauges appear to be original, which gives you a clue as to how clean this car was pre-restoration, and the supporting cast like the stock steering wheel and dash pad, are similarly excellent. It offers a brand new black convertible top with crystal clear rear window. The trunk is spotless, too--well, except for the spatter finish paint, of course. Built by noted engine builder Matt Bishop, the cackling 327 under the hood is dressed like a stocker but packs a few upgrades to make it a formidable opponent out on the highway. An Edelbrock intake and carburetor are up top, situated under a chrome air cleaner that looks pretty stock. The engine itself is wearing Chevy Orange, as youd expect, and there arent any high-visibility upgrades, just factory steel rocker covers, original cast iron exhaust manifolds, and the factory accessories, including power steering and power front disc brakes. The TH350 3-speed automatic has incredibly quick reflexes, and as a rotisserie restoration, the bottom of the car is finished like youd expect, with the only non-stock pieces being the Flowmaster mufflers. Big 8-inch Corvette Rallys fill the wheel wells with 215/70/15 front and 225/70/15 rear BFG rubber. This Camaro is a great package, combining looks and performance, all at a shockingly reasonable price. Forget pedigrees, take this one home and rediscover how much fun just driving can be!
