1979 (Last year produced) Volkswagen Beetle Convertible COLLECTIBLE ORIGINAL OWNER--$14995
VORSICHT!!! Oh well--it's not anything bad..it just could be "addicting". Imagine tooling around in this ORIGINAL OWNER 1979 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE CONVERTIBLE CLASSIC. It attracts attention wherever and whenever you drive it. . .of that you can rest assured! I have been given the opportunity to market this VOLKSWAGEN by a good friend who is willing to part with it after many years of grandiose memories. If I can't answer your question about the car, he will be able to. . .there are no "secrets" or "issues" with this one.
It has been garaged by him (or his lovely family) since he drove it home from the dealer in 1979. It is fully documented--has the original window sticker of course and most all of the maintenance items performed through the years. The fuel injection system was retrofitted with a carburetor a few years back..the engine replaced some 8k ago in 1996. It has been repainted in the original (Mars Red) color once and they did a fantastic job. There is no rust on the undercarriage--the pan is solid and looks great.
The interior is almost as outstanding as the day it came off the showroom floor. The white convertible top is in great condition--no rips, tears or loose threads..no damaged areas. The tires have most of the tread left and are in need of "hitting the road" and having some mileage put on them! It drives steady; no issues there--tracks nice and straight with no vibration or noise of any kind--it just "keeps on ticking" (like a certain battery we are all familiar with).
The VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE CABRIOLET began production in 1949--the Beetle was the embodiment of the post-war prosperity in Europe and America. Throughout the years, stylistic changes were made as well as technological alterations and the last of 331,847 cabriolets came off the conveyor belt on January 10th, 1980. Now you have a chance to own one of the last production models of the VW Beetle Convertible---just "pull the trigger" on this one.
I just now reviewed the latest Hagerty Price Guide for Collectible Cars. I will give you the figures and you can be assured this one is among the top and well priced for what the potential is. The figures are (based on the conditions/ratings of the individual vehicle): #4 ($7400)--#3 ($13000)--#2 ($21900)--#1 ($26900). This VOLKSWAGEN CABRIOLET is easily somewhere between a #3 and a #2 (closer to a #2). Nevertheless, it is priced well for the VW's on the market when "apples to apples" comparisons are made.
Call me (Neal) and let's talk about it. Don't pass up this opportunity to own and drive (and participate in local shows) one of the nicest VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE Cabriolet's in the last year they were produced!!! You will bring home more trophies than you think!!
